about the NFAS
MEMBERSHIP
Fees are as determined by The Annual General Meeting. The Membership year
ends on 31st March each year and the memberships become renewable at that date;
irrespective of date of first joining. Some concessions1 are made to those
joining late in the year.
1 New members joining the NFAS in the last three months of any membership year will automatically get membership for the following year i.e a total of up to 15 months. This concession does not apply to anybody renewing their membership late or anybody whose details are already on the NFAS database.
Provisional Membership is applied to ALL new members of the NFAS. This level of membership entitles the holder to all the benefits of the NFAS including insurance but does not allow them to compete in any NFAS Open or National competitions. To obtain full membership a member would one of the following:
- Proof of attendance at an NFAS training course
- An NFAS club secretary is prepared to say ‘I am of a sufficient standard to attend an open shoot’
- An NFAS Executive member is prepared to say ‘I am of a sufficient standard to attend an open shoot’
Since the 5p levy was discontinued at the 2001 A.G.M. only members of the N.F.A.S. are covered by our insurance. Therefore shoot organisers should ensure that all archers taking part in any event are members of the N.F.AS.
At all fund raising activities such as “Have a Gos” held under the auspices of the National Field Archery Society a levy of 5p per head on all archers shooting is payable to the NFAS Treasurer; this levy is collected by the Organising Club as part of the entry fee and forwarded by them to the Society. This levy will be regarded as "day of shoot" membership for any archers not affiliated and ensures that they are thus covered by our Insurance.
Shoot dates will be circulated in the Newsletter (approx. 2-monthly). Clubs should let the Shoot Date Organiser have their shoot dates as early as possible.
Major decisions will be voted at the Annual General Meeting or by postal ballot when necessary and practicable. On points concerning rules of one division, only members of that division will vote, i.e. only H/T archers vote on H/T rules.
There will be no large bureaucratic organisation to NFAS. An Executive will administer the membership side for Insurance, National Championships and production of a Newsletter issued on a one per household basis. Members who have competed in six shoots or a previous Championships are eligible to enter the Annual Championships. In order to be eligible, existing members must have renewed their membership by the 30th June.
