CHILDREN YOUNGER THAN 2 YEARS OLD ON FIELD COURSES
Posted: 7 May 2024
The NFAS committee has conducted a review of risk assessments and for safety reasons, children younger than two years old are no longer allowed on any NFAS courses including open shoots and championships. This is because of the risk of slips, trips and falls onto a child being carried, or unable to get out of the way because they are too young. The fontanelle is also often not fully formed until around 18 months, which is an added risk. The NFAS cannot be held responsible for any harm that may befall a child on a course. Children under 2 will be allowed at admin areas unless the walk in/out is of the same terrain. This assessment is effective immediately.
