Latest Magazine – January / February 2026
Posted: 16 January 2026
Hello all,
The NFAS Jan/ Feb Magazine is now live on the website under the ‘members area’.
I would also like to provide an explanation for the delays we have been seeing with the last several editions. The latest Edition is currently with the printers and has been for some time. I am expecting this to be with you all soon.
There are multiple reasons for these delays that are currently out of our control. The delays over the past year unfortunately started due to complications with the previous Magazine Editor.
These issues led to a point early last year, at which we would not have received a May/June issue of the magazine at all, or even a March/April edition. Myself being in the comms role, after helping produce the previous ‘Bulletin’ issue and having experience with illustration/ graphic design from my time at university, decided to step up and temporarily produce the NFAS magazine. This May/ June edition was completed within a very tight deadline to avoid any further delays.
Unfortunately, it was at around this time, our printers also started to see delays on their side, from 10 days to 6 weeks. This has been a significant contribution to the current delays we are facing with the increasing timescale of print production. I have been told by our printers that this is due to their increasing general workload. In a recent correspondence, when asked if they could provide an ETA from point of approval, for various page numbers, I was told this was impossible to calculate.
We can all agree that this is not ideal and whilst I am continuing to work with them, I am currently exploring all the options available to us, to get this timescale down.
In order to get on top of these delays, I decided to work on 2 editions at once over the recent Christmas holidays (Jan/Feb, March/April). So that as soon as the January editions is printed and hits doorsteps, the March edition will be ready to go. I am hoping to get the March edition with you as soon as possible. So, a smaller edition with the goal of sending it to the printers within hours of the voting deadline. Please note: this timeframe may vary given that voting closes on my baby’s due date!!
Due to the likely delay with this current issue, I will be publishing a downloadable version of the voting form on the website. The committee would ask for anyone who is willing and able, to please print off 1 or 2 copies for any members whom you know cannot access the online version of the magazine and would like to place a postal vote. I will post an update on both the website and Facebook, as soon as this is available.
Currently the fastest and easiest method for most of our members to view the magazine is via the members section of the website as the PDF can be made available as soon as it is produced. This version can also be downloaded. Whilst not an option for our members with no access to the internet, this is an available option for those who do. I get that it’s not the same, I too much prefer a physical copy than staring at a screen and it’s our money as members paying for it. I only mention as it is an option to view the mag sooner, whilst we wait for the physical copies. It is for this reason that I will be posting the future online versions as soon as possible, rather than waiting for one of us committee members to receive a printed copy.
Whilst I have decided to officially step down from my role as comms officer and in place, take on the role of Magazine Editor. Until we have the comms position filled, I am still acting in both positions. I do hope that once this changes, I will have some extra time to focus on improving the content, production and distribution of the mag, tackling any weak spots.
I hope this helps clarify some of the current situation and questions you may have. If you have any further thoughts, questions or issues on this, please do not hesitate to get in touch and I will do what I can to help.
Cheers,
Lewis
