Magazine Editor – Role Description

Overview:
Responsible for production of the six printed magazines each year. This is a Directorship position
and will be required to be registered on Companies House and undertake a DBS check. Space for
a computer (an Apple MAC mini) and screen is required to prepare the newsletter.
Key Tasks:
- Production of six newsletters during the year production in the following months December
(Jan/Feb), February (Mar/Apr), April (May/Jun), June (Jul/Aug), August (Sep/Oct), October (Nov/Dec) - Collating committee information into newsletter, notices, championship shoots, Annual
General Meeting, club contacts and shoot dates and coach list as needed - Liaising with advertisers for entries into the newsletter
- Editing shoot reports to common format into newsletter
- Identifying themes and stories for newsletter from wider sources and NFAS members
- Collating newsworthy stories from Official NFAS Facebook group
- Providing draft newsletter for committee review and approval
- Liaising with printers about changes to production and delivering print ready document in a
timely manner to allow posting on the 1st of the month of the cycle date - Delivering web version of newsletter to the website manager (Webby)
- Producing mailing list for members and advertisers and delivery via email to printers
- Production of advertiser invoice list for the NFAS Treasurer following publication
- Receiving 10 copies of the newsletter and posting to members who have not received a copy
from the mailing. - Ensuring copies of each newsletter are placed in the NFAS archive
- Maintenance of the NFAS archive both online and offline
- Liaising with printers for newsletter distribution
Skills / Experience Required:
- Computer literacy including Microsoft Office suite and components from Adobe suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrobat Editor)
- Good written English skills with ability to sympathetically edit documents received

Time Commitment:
Every 2 months, 3-4 days over two weeks to collate information and produce final newsletter
document. 1-2 days per month in seeking out newsletter themes. 1 day at the weekend
approximately every 2 months for Committee meetings either in person or virtual ad-hoc attendance
with committee members 1 or 2 evenings per month
