Nationals – September 2025

It’s been 2 weeks since the 3D’s and some keen people are asking about the Nationals 
They will be hosted this year by Dearne Valley FAC, who will be using the full woodland they are situated in to create 2 full brand new courses never shot before, using woodland never used before!
The date is the 13th and 14th of September 2025, and I’m hoping to have entry forms ready the first week in July. I’ve got another visit planned in a couple of weeks when we are going to spend some time planning the logistics, admin tent, car parking, camping, caravans and motor homes, toilet locations, start/end locations for the courses, catering spots and so on. I can then add the relevant stuff to the entry form for members.
In the meantime, here are some quick Q&A’s
1) will it be paper faces?
Technically it will be the new printed vinyl, but yes it will be 2D. We will be using the newly designed NFAS faces created for 2021. This event is the historically original championships and honours the original 2D style. The 3D champs, which was introduced 27 years ago, has overtaken in popularity but is a much younger event.
2) will it be 40 targets?
It will most likely be 36 targets each day to hopefully finish in the light. The experiments I’ve been running at champs to get started / finished earlier are working and unless we exceed 360 entries we will run with 36 targets. If we exceed 360 entries we may increase to 40 targets with an absolute maximum of 400 entries for the event. Logistically we can not accommodate more than this.
3) what will the start times be?
Saturday scorecard collection will be 8am-9am
Sunday scorecard collection will be 7am-8am
Please note Sunday 1 hour earlier.
The 3D’s worked really well with the cut off being prompt, timing at the Nationals is even more important, so the cut off time will be strict.
4) what’s the W3W’s?

5) will there be camping?
There is a Scout camp directly opposite which we have rented for the event and will be bookable as normal when you book in for the Nationals. Caravans and Campervans – it’s slightly more difficult this time, but we think we can accommodate campervans onsite. For caravans with a separate car/vehicle we think we may be asking you to use the camp site along the lane, but im going to secure these details in a few weeks and will confirm with the entry form the first week of July.
6) can anyone enter?
Any NFAS FULL MEMBER is eligible to enter, with the addition of 3 score cards from open shoots OR if you have already shot any previous NFAS champs. You do not need to submit 3 score cards again if you have already done so.
7) will there be catering?
There will be breakfast catering in the admin area, and then catering on both courses for lunch.
8) Do I need to do anything special as it is a champs?
No, your NFAS membership will be checked as part of your entry, however we DO check every archers arrows before they can collect their score cards. As per rule 15 of the rules of shooting a minimum of initial and surname is required on all arrows, and the arrows need to be marked in a way that shows their order of shooting.
