Comms Update
Posted: 15 March 2025
Hello everyone,
Just wanting to let you know that there will be a few changes in the future to the website’s content and our presence on social media.
In my time as Comms Officer, I have reviewed our social media and listened to much of the membership’s feedback. It is from this that I feel our online presence could do with a few updates. I will be making the changes over the next few weeks to our Facebook profiles and hopefully provide more improved content for you. Here are some of my proposed changes for both the page and group:
For the ‘NFAS Committee Noticeboard’ page, you will see:
- A name change for the page from ‘NFAS Committee Noticeboard’ to simply “NFAS” – “National Field Archery Society”.
- This page is a public facing page so with this in mind, I will be looking to improve its content: More advertisements for the sport we love, information on how people can get into the sport, new articles and a few reels. Some of which will also be shared to the official group.
For the ‘Official NFAS Group’, you will see:
Post Requests – Many members have expressed concerns that they are being censored and not being allowed to express their voice. I would like to assure you that this is not the case. Posts will only be getting declined under these conditions:
- If the rules of the group are broken such as inappropriate behaviour, offensive language, threats of violence, sexual nature and discrimination etc.
- Questions directed towards the committee. These should be pursued through the official process by contacting the committee or the relevant roles. This will help
you to get an official answer and avoid any misinformation. If a question for the committee is submitted that is not an FAQ, it will be declined with feedback directing you to the relevant NFAS contact details.
* This would however depend on the question as some can be helpful for others who do not know the answer and decide to search Facebook. If a question is frequently asked, I will allow the post with an answer in the comments by the NFAS page account to help others. I will also try to add it to the FAQs section of the website. - One change that will be made to our groups ‘About me’ section is that I will be adding a directory of sorts, an explanation of some of the topics that each committee member can help with and who to contact if you’re unsure.
All posts that are declined will also have feedback attached, explaining the reasoning behind why the admin decided to decline the post. If the subject of the declined post can be helped through contact with a member of the NFAS committee, the contact details for said committee member will also be supplied in the feedback.
Currently there is a very small admin team managing our Facebook group. This team may expand over time or stay as it is. Either way if there are any issues, questions or concerns, please contact me via comms@nfas.net or the ‘NFAS’ messenger. I’m always open to conversation and ready to provide some help and clarity if required.
More content
Both our magazine editor and I would like to try to give back to our members with more interesting content and help you feel included in conversations. For any articles or content you would like to see or have published please get in touch with us.
For Website/ Social media: comms@nfas.net
For magazine: Editor@nfas.netFrom an online perspective, content such as; tutorials, expert tips, reviews, interviews, course highlights, society info posts, topics of discussion etc, are in the works and will regularly be posted on both here and the website for you to benefit from. We may even look at bringing back the social media giveaway competitions to help encourage positive engagement.
Following this past AGM, I found a lot of issues and frustrations stem from a confusion around who to speak to, what you can & can’t do, what procedures are in place etc. I’m hoping to help tackle this over time, keeping everyone as informed as possible.
Whilst I understand that these changes will not please everyone, I hope that my changes will help the society and are a step in the right direction. I will review the rules of the ‘Official NFAS group’ in thew coming weeks and see what/if any changes may need to be made.
My main goal for the future is to see our sport thrive. I would like to see us become the biggest archery affiliation in the country and I truly believe that it is a possibility.
Any and all questions are welcome so please do not feel that you cannot get in touch.
Cheers,
Lewis
